Ottawa Real Estate

About Me
With over 34 years of combined experience, Karen and Greg have brought together their individual talents, commitment and resources to provide the optimum of professional service in the real estate industry.

By always placing the client first, Karen and Greg's achievements have been impressive, resulting in them being consistent top producer's, and the Recipient of Lifetime National Chairman's Club, Top 1% in Canada.

Karen credits their success at home and in the market to their mutual respect and admiration and a fierce commitment to their careers and to each other.

Karen and Greg moved to Ottawa from Toronto in 1977. In her early working years Karen gained experience in the banking and brokerage sector and then began exploring the home party concept selling imported wicker and rattan ware, the first of its kind in Ottawa. She knew the market was going to be good for this product and booked her inaugural party with the real estate agent who sold them their first home. The business grew significantly and over the next few years Karen hired 6 other saleswomen to do parties as she and Greg raised their 2 sons.

As a Political Science graduate Greg, who was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia enjoyed a 28-year career with the R.C.M.P and Solicitor General’s department. Greg decided to retire early, an undertaking that wasn’t easy given the amazing fraternal tie the RCMP had established over the years. If the pressure to stay in a secure government position was great, so was the support and encouragement Karen provided to Greg to embark upon a new challenge. He did just that and in 1994/95 he obtained his associate broker status with Royal LePage and he and Karen undertook to enter into a husband and wife working team, which has turned out to be one of many highlights in their relationship.

For Karen, the evolution to real estate came naturally as she had always thought seriously about the profession since her early twenties. While in Toronto, Karen was a co-partner of a home at a time when the market was starting to boom. The idea of real estate never quite left her and ultimately in 1983 while having dinner in a social setting with a mortgage broker she decided it was time to move into the industry. And she never looked back.

Licensed in March 1984, Karen joined what was then known as A. E. LePage and has remained a loyal associate throughout the company growth to Royal LePage Real Estate Services and then to her present broker Royal LePage Team Realty.

Karen firmly believes a winning combination can be achieved between a top-notch real estate representative and an innovative and supportive broker.

Royal LePage is a company that has come a long way since it’s one-man shop in Toronto in 1913 to a national network of over 500 offices with over 9000 sales representatives.

Karen’s national status within Royal LePage has earned her the coveted recognition of Lifetime Member of the National Chairman’s Club (top 1% for more than 10 years within the entire Royal LePage sales force in Canada).

This is an achievement that is extra special to Karen given the talent and professionalism of other Royal LePage colleagues throughout Canada.

Karen loves real estate because she gets to meet so many different people with a variety of need and expectations. Cultural considerations have become increasingly more important when working with clients and add immensely to the learning curve required of modern day real estate practitioners. “We have sold very high end properties, lower end properties and all those in between,” Karen says. “While knowledge of these respective market niches is always crucial, working with and understanding your client is imperative.”

Karen and Greg have contributed over the years to the community through volunteering for select fundraising groups and organizing community events. Past service with the Nepean Kiwanis Club where Greg was President and Karen actively involved in fundraising initiatives has provided them both with a sense of returning something to the community.

The Scott’s do not see transactions as numbers and financial bottom lines but rather real people who are either buying or selling probably their biggest financial investment of their lives. “Sensitivity, listening and providing balanced advice is always well received by sellers and buyers alike”, the Scott’s agree.

Karen and Greg rely heavily on their office associates Vivian & Jen to coordinate and handle the multitude of daily tasks. Despite their hectic schedules they manage to get away each year to recharge their batteries and to reflect on life’s priorities. “We have hobbies like gardening, cooking, boating and art.” Karen laughs “but work is my favourite past-time.”
